Funky BBQ Pit Roaster

A few years ago, a friend asked me if I would build a BBQ for a lamb roast for their 25th wedding anniversary.
He told me that he had worked on perfecting this system for many years. (Rumor has it, that it was the ultimate "School of Hard Knocks!")

Since he is an avid bicycle rider I thought it to be fun to incorporate a bike into the drive.
What you see in these pictures is version two, rebuilt to do three lambs. The occasion was his fiftieth birthday. We have the system perfected to where we can roast three 100 lbs. lambs in about four to five hours.
I do not consider this metal art. At least not in the usual sense. But it was fun to design and build and it's a joy to operate it and to observe the many people getting a sense of the fun it was to create it. So, in a different way maybe, it is a piece of "functional or utilitarian art".

This device is obviously NOT FOR SALE. It probably should be in the "Sold or N.F.S." gallery.
